◈Definition
A Dormant Company is one that has been declared inactive under Section 455 of the Companies Act 2013. Companies apply for dormant status when they are formed for a future project, hold an asset or intellectual property, or have simply gone inactive. Dormant companies have reduced compliance requirements — no AGM, simplified annual filings — but retain their legal existence and CIN. A dormant company can return to active status by filing Form MSC-4.
